The Downey Police & Fire Foundation will host its 4th Annual Police Officer and Firefighter of the Year Award Luncheon on Tuesday, April 17th at the Rio Hondo Event Center. Police Corporal Edward Hano will be honored as the Police Officer of the Year and Fire Captain David Holcombe will be honored as the Firefighter of the Year. Honorees are selected after consideration of a variety of criteria including, but not limited to, outstanding acts of kindness, compassion, courage, attitude, professional work ethic, and devotion to duty. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance by contacting Yvonne Rosales, Secretary to the Police Chief at (562) 904-2301 or email at email@example.com.

The Downey Police & Fire Foundation (DPFF) is a non-profit organization created as a result of the 1990 PACE Warehouse robbery where two officers were wounded in a shootout with the robbers. The Foundation provides assistance to police and fire employees during times of unexpected financial hardship or emergency medical needs. Proceeds/donations go to the Downey Police & Fire Foundation and are tax deductible (Tax ID# 95-4296331)
