Downey Crime Summary

Friday, April 18, 2014
At 10:00 p.m., the Montebello Police Department asked for help with searching a vehicle they had stopped in their City. Downey Police K-9 “Dash” responded and found evidence of narcotics, which led to the suspect’s vehicle being impounded for further investigation.

Saturday, April 19, 2014
At 3:00 a.m., officers located a male loitering at Independence Park and cited him for being in the park after closing hours.

At 5:45 a.m., Officers responded to the area of Paramount Blvd and 7th street regarding an assault with a deadly weapon investigation. The male victim reported he had spoke with the suspect and agreed to meet in the area. Shortly after meeting with the suspect, the suspect stabbed the victim with a knife and fled. The victim was treated at a local hospital for his injuries. Detectives are investigating.

At 11:15 a.m., Elder Fraud Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department served an arrest warrant at a home in the 10800 block of New Street and arrested a 45-year-old man for Financial Abuse of the Elderly. The suspect was booked at the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station and held on $325,000 bail.

Sunday, April 20, 2014
At 1:00 a.m., officers conducting a bar check at the Wet Bar (8832 Imperial) discovered the bar was having live entertainment without a permit to do so. The manager was cited.

During the afternoon, officers extra patrolled our parks and issued 4 parking citations at Dennis the Menace Park and 5 parking citations at Wilderness Park. 1 vehicle was also impounded.

At 1:30 p.m., Officers responded to the area of Lakewood Blvd and Gallatin Rd. regarding an injury traffic collision. The collision was between two vehicles and a motorcycle. After a brief investigation it was discovered the motorcycle had been stolen from the City of Long Beach. Detectives are investigating.
