But then I would remember the Woman’s Club Scholarship, that was not just for one year, but every year for my 4 years at BYU This made all the differnece and I am so grateful.
Linda Dong, President of the Woman’s Club of Downey Foundation, gave an emotional and moving introduction to this year’s recipients and all past recipients in part said:. “……. We have been a foundation for 15 years and have given over $80,000.00 to the our local students achieiving academic excellence. There is no other joy greater than giving to these students who have worked so hard to acheive phenomenal grade point averages through their hard work, determination and discipline…… And it is with great pride and joy, the Woman’s Club presents these scholarships. The Woman’s Club has a long history of giving scholarships to local students”
Cheryll Olson, President of the WCD said: “Because the Foundation is separate from the parent organization and dedicated to a charitable purpose with clearly defined goals, people know exactly how their money will be used. Money donated to the Woman’s Club of Downey Foundation is clearly earmarked for scholarships”
