DOWNEY – Police arrested a 31-year-old South Gate man on suspicion he pulled out a machete after an argument at the In-N-Out on Lakewood and Firestone boulevards.

Authorities believe Horacio Dennis and another man were in some sort of argument about 9:45 p.m. Sunday in the drive-thru when Dennis decided to arm himself.

“(Dennis) basically got out of the car and challenged the man to a fight” while holding the machete, Downey Police Lt. Dean Milligan said.

Dennis left without using the machete, and he was arrested after police caught up to him around the corner from In-N-Out, Milligan said.

Dennis was booked on a misdemeanor charge of suspicion of brandishing a weapon in a threatening matter. He was released from jail on $25,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Downey Superior Court on Nov. 15.
