Man shot in leg at Friday night party
DOWNEY – A 21-year-old man was shot in the leg after getting into a verbal confrontation at a party at 11:30 p.m. Friday night, according to police.
The South Gate resident hit by the bullet was at a party on the 8500 block of Paramount Boulevard with two friends when they were confronted by about six other men, according to Downey Police Lt. Dean Milligan.
The two groups exchanged words, and the 21-year-old man was shot.
The injury was not life-threatening. No one at the part was exactly sure who fired the shot, Milligan said.
Police also responded to a “shots heard” call about 3:30 a.m. Friday at Old River School Road and Imperial Highway, but, when police arrived, no one in the area reported that they had witnessed a shooting.
