The nose of the disassembled space shuttle mock-up rolls into a temporary storage tent in Downey.

DOWNEY – The city has narrowed down its list of possible names for the space shuttle mock-up from 150 to three.

The City Council tonight will choose between Genesis, Inspiration and Legacy.

The choice is the culmination of a months-long process that started in July with the announcement of the naming contest.

The wooden mock-up is the predecessor to all five Space Shuttles that flew into space.

The giant model was kept inside the Downey NASA site, where engineers used it to design parts and get a feel for how they would fit in with the spacecraft.
