Police issued ‘Wanted’ poster for man suspected of shooting 2-year-old and her father
DOWNEY – Police on Tuesday issued a wanted poster for a man they believe shot a 2-year-old girl and her 20-year-old father in front of a Telegraph Road apartment.
Police believe Alexander Antonio Roberts, 22, was the person who fired the shots during an altercation on Friday. Police say Roberts left the scene after the shooting. Roberts is considered armed and dangerous, and police urge the public not to confront him.
The child has been released from the hospital after undergoing surgery to have a bullet removed from an area near her spine.
As of Monday, the father was beginning to stabilize after suffering four gunshot wounds.
Police believe the father may have also fired his gun, but they are not sure if he hit anyone.
Neighbors said the area near Telegraph and Paramount Boulevard where the shooting took place is infested with gangs despite heavy police patrols.
Anyone how sees him or knows where he is asked to call the Downey Police at 562-904-2308 or call or email Detective Robert Del Rio at 562-904-2324 rdelrio@downeyca.org or
