Police had shooting suspect in custody just two months ago, according to arrest records
DOWNEY – Police 2 months ago had in custody the man accused of shooting a 2-year-old girl and her father.
Arrest records from the sheriff’s office show that Alexander Roberts, 22, was arrested May 26 by the Downey Police on suspicion of a misdemeanor crime.
The record does not name the crime. It lists bail at $2,500, but it does not list a jail location, which likely means Roberts was released with an order to appear in court or pay a fine. Records show Roberts was in custody for about three hours.
The arrest record lists Roberts at 5’9′” and 130 pounds with brown eyes.
Police believe Roberts was the trigger man in a gunfight Friday afternoon on Telegraph Road that left ended with a toddler and her father being hit by gunfire.
The child has been released from the hospital to the custody of her mother, and, as of Monday, the father was beginning to stabilize after suffering four gunshot wounds.
Police believe the father may have also fired his gun, but they are not sure if he hit anyone.
