DOWNEY – To celebrate the 20th anniversary of a charity created by longtime physician Mary Stauffer, the city is offering free admission to the Columbia Memorial Space Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 26.
The Mary R. Stauffer Foundation pays for scholarships for thousands of Downey students. Stauffer, who retired from her work as a doctor in 1997, also pays for much of the cost for the Space Center’s award-winning robotics teams, which are made up of students from Downey and Warren high schools.
For more information about the event, call the Columbia Memorial Space Center at 562-231-1200. The Space Center is at 12400 Columbia Way, Downey.
