Plain Jane bandit serial bankrobber hits Downey B of A

DOWNEY – The Plain Jane Bandit struck at a Downey Bank this afternoon, according to the FBI.

The unidentified woman has hit six other banks since July, according to reports from federal authorities.

A woman matching Plain Jane’s description at  2:15 p.m. tried to rob a Bank of America branch located at 10010 Paramount Blvd. in Downey, California.

The modus operandi and description matched the woman known as the Plain Jane Bandit, according to the FBI statement.

The statement did not say if the bandit got any money.

Normally, the woman threatens the bank teller that someone outside is helping her, according to the FBI. But witnesses so far haven’t seen an accomplice.

Witnesses describe the suspect as an Hispanic woman between 5’3”-5’5” inches tall and 150-170 lbs. They estimate the woman is 35-40 years old. She is believed to have driven away in a four-door, silver vehicle.

U.S. Bank has put up a $10,000 reward for information leading to the woman’s capture.
