Special City Council meeting tonight; budget talks on tap

DOWNEY – The City Council has scheduled a special meeting at 6 p.m. tonight at City Hall to talk with its employee unions.

The city is facing a nearly $9 million deficit and still has not set a budget for the 2011-2012 fiscal year, making it one of the only cities in the region to have had no public discussion of its finances for the coming year.
