County hoping to find home for depressed Boxer after owner dies
DOWNEY – County workers are hoping someone will adopt a Boxer mix after its owner died.
Neighbors of the 6-year-old dog, named Ollie, were unable to find friends or family of the dead man, so they took him to the pound in Downey.
“Staff have already fallen in love with him,” said Marcia Mayeda, the director of the county’s Department of Animal Care and Control, in a prepared statement.
“He’s been through a lot within just a few short days,” Mayeda said. “The loss of his owner seems to have deeply affected him emotionally. He’s got a great personality, although the sadness is apparent. Once he is in the right home, with his new owners, we are confident he will perk up.”
Anyone interested in adopting Ollie can call the Downey Animal Care Center at 562-940-6898.
The center is at 11258 S. Garfield Ave., Downey.
