Sister cities hosting fund raiser at Space Center

[ May 26, 2012; 2:00 pm; ] Downey’s Sister Cities are hosting a fund raiser from 2 to 6 p.m.  Saturday, May 26 at the Columbia Memorial Space Center.

The event features a spaghetti dinner, drinks, dessert, prizes, an auction and games.

And all guests will get to tour around the Space Center.

DOWNEY – Workers have officially started a construction project designed to keep trucks from destroying streets near where Florence Avenue intersects with the 5 and 605 freeways.

Downey man indicted after allegedly trying to sneak 11 pounds of cocaine through wrong airport checkpoint

Authorities say a Downey man has agreed to surrender to authorities after he tried to smuggle 11 pounds of cocaine through a pre-arranged security checkpoint at the Los Angeles International Airport but accidentally went to a different checkpoint and was caught with the drugs.
