Parks commission to set priorities for upgrades

DOWNEY – Anybody interested in the city’s parks can participate in a public hearing Tuesday in which the city’s Recreation and Community Services Commission will rank capital improvement priorities.
The commission meets at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 11111 Brookshire Ave.

Traffic calming comes to sudden stop, speed hump plan shot down

After four years of suggestions, studies and complaints, it looks like the idea to put speed humps on busy streets is all but dead.
The City Council on Tuesday voted 3-1 against an experimental speed hump plan.
